Training at Cardod Welsh
Beyond our breeding program at Cardod Welsh, we are also passionate about training. We offer quality ridden, driven, and in-hand training as well as showing services. Our training techniques stem from a background of successfully training and competing in various disciplines. These include hunt seat, jumping, dressage, western pleasure, reining, and driving at WPCSA breed shows, open shows, 4-H, and OHSET. We use gentle training techniques to ensure that each pony may reach his/her full potential as a willing pleasure and/or show partner. Each pony is also introduced to trail riding to allow them to relax and enjoy new experiences away from the barn yard!
Qualifications include: 17+ years experience training, showing, and breeding Welsh Ponies. We have trained under numerous talented horsewomen and men, such as Mary Wallhood, Lori Freeman-Swanson, Charles Sherman, and Kimberlee Barker. As for relevant education, Amy holds a BS Degree from Oregon State University in Animal Sciences with Options in both Equine Science and Animal Behavior. Amy was also able to spend a year studying abroad at the University of Wales, Bangor, where she spent time with Welsh Pony and Cob breeders both at their studs and away at shows and sales. As you can see we are very dedicated to the Welsh breed and hope to help other equine enthusiasts learn just how wonderful these ponies and cobs really are! We are good standing members of WPCSA, OWPS, WPCAC, AWE, EEWPS, ASPR, ODS, USDF, and USEF.
